While I was away from the blog, I spent some time thinking about what is needed for La Chureca, and the steps to be taken. I will update soon with my ideas.

My name is Ross. Im 17, and I live in the western suburbs of Chicago. I went on a week long missions trip to Managua, Nicaragua with a group of friends from my church in July of 2009. We saw and experienced many things that changed all of us. Some of the things that we did down there was distributing shoes to people in the Managua City Dump, La Chureca. We also participated in feeding programs, serving  Feed My Starving Children food to kids in Managua, La Chureca, and in a town on the Pacific Ocean. We also worked ( and stayed) at a compound called Pochocuape.

After the trip, I was changed in ways that just I sometimes can’t put into words. But, I did come up with a way that I could change what I saw into something better.

My mission is to start urban renewal projects in certain parts of Nicaragua. For those of you who do not know what urban renewal is, it is the process of rebuilding cities/urban centers. I want to revamp two places in Nicaragua, La Chureca and Pochocuape. Eventually, I will spread my work to other places that need it in Nicaragua. I will work with existing organizations to make my project a reality, including my friend Amanda and her project , the Library Mission.

You may think that this is a crazy idea (and a lot of people do), but it is something that is need essential in those two places.  It will help to improve the lives of people and the country it’s self.
